Become an AHA Instructor in New Jersey — Teach, Lead, and Save Lives

If you love helping others and want to take your life-saving skills even further, becoming an American Heart Association (AHA) instructor is one of the most rewarding paths you can take. As an AHA instructor, you won’t just be certified to administer CPR and advanced cardiovascular courses — you’ll be equipped to teach these essential skills to others in your community, workplace, or healthcare setting. At One Love CPR, we’re here to help you take that next step in your professional and personal journey.

Why Become an AHA Instructor?

Teaching life-saving skills is more than a job — it’s a mission. As an AHA instructor, you:

  • Empower others to respond confidently in emergencies.

  • Expand your professional credibility and leadership in healthcare or safety training.

  • Join a community of educators dedicated to improving survival outcomes through quality training.

  • Stay on the cutting edge of CPR, AED, and advanced cardiovascular care guidelines.

What Instructor Training Involves

Becoming a certified AHA instructor involves structured learning and practice so you can teach with confidence. Here’s how the process typically works:

  1. Meet the prerequisites:

    • Hold a current AHA provider certification in the discipline you wish to teach (BLS, ACLS, or PALS).

    • Be comfortable with your own ability to perform and explain the skills you’ll teach.

  2. Complete the Instructor Essentials course:

    • This foundational training includes online and in-person elements that prepare you for instructional roles, covering how to prepare, teach, assess, and remediate learners.

  3. Attend the in-person instructor training:

    • Hands-on instruction deepens your grasp of teaching methodologies, how to conduct skill evaluations, and how to lead effective classes.

  4. Teach and be monitored:

    • Before you receive your official AHA instructor credential, you must teach a class under supervision to demonstrate your ability to lead and evaluate students successfully.

Each step builds your competence and confidence so that when you teach BLS, ACLS, or PALS, you are a trusted leader who upholds the highest standards in emergency care education.

What You’ll Gain

Becoming an AHA instructor isn’t just about credentials — it’s about impact. You’ll gain:

  • The ability to issue official AHA certification cards to your students.

  • Instructor resources and community support through the AHA Instructor Network.

  • A platform to make a difference in schools, workplaces, healthcare centers, and community groups.

  • Enhanced public health outcomes by ensuring more people are trained and ready to act in emergencies.

Imagine being the person who gives a teacher, parent, or fellow responder the confidence to act when every second counts. That’s the kind of influence an AHA instructor has every day.

Coilin is amazing.
He was wonderful and helped me understand the course in my first language, Portuguese. Because when we are in moments of tension, we can’t think — we have to act.

Looking for a skills location? This is the spot! I had a great experience and highly recommend one love CPR. I’ve been a nurse for over 10 years and taken many a CPR course. Colin’s teaching method is tried & true and he did a fantastic job at stimulating a realistic environment. I did BLS part 1 online beforehand so I was dismissed early (after about an hour), but I enjoyed myself so much I’ll probably just sign up for the full 3-hr course next time I have to renew! Believe me, you could know nothing and walk out of there with the skills and confidence to save a life.

As a RN working in skilled nursing for over 13 years, this by far is one of the most indept CPR courses I've ever taken. The CPR renewal is usually a quick walk through and not indepth, but like everything else in healthcare guidelines change and we need more than just a quick walk through. This was an amazing experience. Highly recommend 👌!!!!
